El Nica Restaurant, located in Pinellas Park, Florida, offers a delightful journey into authentic Nicaraguan cuisine. Patrons rave about the fresh, made-to-order meals, setting it apart from typical fritanga restaurants. Frank H. highlights the delicious Gallo pinto paired with perfectly grilled carne asada, while Suraya Brunner describes the carne asada as "mouthwatering," urging visitors to indulge in the addictive fried cheese. Pauline Weakley echoes this sentiment, praising the comforting touch of dishes like fried Tostones with cheese and refreshing passion fruit juice.
Diners frequently emphasize the inviting atmosphere and exceptional service that give El Nica a familial feel. Evan Rivera notes how the team genuinely cares about each dish, creating a sense of home. Anyi Rosario chimes in, expressing nostalgia reminiscent of grandmother’s cooking. For anyone seeking a taste of Nicaragua in the Tampa/St. Pete area, El Nica Restaurant is a must-visit—a hidden gem that promises comfort and warmth in every bite.

Nice and cozy. Food is made fresh per order unlike other typical Fritanga restaurants where most of the meat is already cooked. Had the Gallo pinto, with carne asada, plantains, and fried cheese. Delicious! Will be going back this weekend

Absolutely unbelievable. The best food we had in our 8 day trip to Florida. The carne asada was mouthwatering good...the fried cheese? We immediately ordered another after tasting. The owner and staff are amazing. This is a must hit.

Nicaraguan cuisine is pure comfort food! El Nica served up some amazingly delicious seasoned Carne Asada, complete with rice, beans, fried cheese, cabbage salad and plantain chips. Their fried Tostones with cheese was tasty and that fresh passion fruit juice just refreshingly hits the spot! Must check out this place and see for yourself.

Everything was amazing! From the service to the food, it has a family feel you can’t get everywhere. You can tell they care about what they make for you! Great little spot which can be missed but you are missing out. If you want authentic Nicaraguan food and you’re in the Tampa/St Pete/Pinellas area, make the trip to El Tio Nico!

We got the Nica platter, which had a bit of everything. It was delicious, and with our table of four we still took about a third of it home! Tio Nica was super friendly!
